Executive Profile:
Sam Meram President
Sam has spent most of his life on heavy equipment and on construction sites. With experience from installation Oil pipelines in the Middle East to highway construction and just about everything in between. Sam has over 40 years in the excavating and pipeline industry. Living in Michigan for 30 years and working in that climate along with the adverse weather and unstable soil conditions has prepared Sam to handle just about anything that can be faced here in Arizona. He has extensive experience in public water, sanitary and storm sewer restoration and replacement, Pump stations, earth moving and soils stabilization.
In 1995 Sam won a contest held by Michigan Caterpillar at their annual equipment expo as the Premier operator in the state by completing a skills course with Cat equipment in record time and incredible accuracy. Sam beat out a field of over 100 other skilled operators to take the title.
Francis Meram Vice-President
At as early as 10 years old Francis was introduced to construction equipment and allowed to tinker with them in secured areas of job sites and nearby fields
..by age 14 Francis could operate most equipment on site with tremendous accuracy and skill. Francis worked in the field on construction sites every summer from age 14 through graduation of college with a Civil Engineering Degree. This in depth knowledge of the trade through hands on experience as well as the formal education in Civil Engineering makes him a scarcity in the field. His knowledge of how to design systems that actually work in field is of great importance. It is rare that a design flaw or oversight in the plans stops us from continuing our work as we can count on Francis and his design background to correct the issue quickly and effectively to keep the job moving. Having worked several years for a municipal engineering firm, Francis gained experience in Construction Inspection, plan review and utility design. After moving from Michigan, Francis also worked as a Civil designer in Arizona for a period of time prior to starting his own company. Francis has experience in laying pipe, operating all equipment, supervising crews, surveying, and utilities design.
Tim Johnson Associate/Superintendant
Tim has spent most of his life in the construction field in Michigan and has spent the last several years in Arizona expanding his skills and his network. In a very short period of time Tim has proven the fact that east coast excavating methods used here in Arizona can not only increase production but also reduce cost. Being one of the key personnel of another Michigan company who moved here to Arizona, Tim was the on-site supervisor and worked on over 35 construction projects for many of the largest general contractors and developers in Arizona. Tim has in depth knowledge and skill operating equipment, running projects, supervising multiple crews, and at many times can be found running the excavator on his sites to maintain the proper production and quality.
Pete Werner Associate/Foreman
Pete has spent the past 15 years in the excavating and construction industry in Michigan as well as the last several years in Arizona. Pete has been the onsite specialist in testing and quality control. Pete has been involved in installation and testing of water, sanitary and storm sewer systems. Pete can run all heavy equipment on site and coordinate the necessary permitting and municipal inspections. The ability to complete a job and leave behind no or very minimal punch lists is what Pete prides himself on and is expected on all Meram jobs.
